Something to look forward to in the New Year?

I hope.
Though after last week's headlines in India, it doesn't seem highly likely.

What do they say? That the only way to go after you hit rock bottom is up. The question of course is...have we hit rock bottom yet?

So much has been said, discussed, analysed and will continue to be talked about - about the major issues of last year; the economic meltdown, the interdependencies of all nations, the ferocious rise in terrorism, the big black hole we've dug for our planet and so on, that I'm sure the year 2008 will remain in our collective memory for a another 5 decades or so. Or, of course, until a bigger disaster hits us sooner.

Was reading about Qigong the other day. Amazing how such simple things like breathing can energise and change one's whole life. Maybe we could have a Qigong Day on which every man, woman and child on this earth would stand together at the same time for five minutes and just breathe our world into a happier place. If we can channelise our body's energy and heal it just by breathing right, then imagine what we could all do collectively for this planet of ours.

Also interesting is how our ancient cultures all discovered or created similar theories, philosophies and life-systems. Whether we call them qigong or pranayama, vastu or feng shui, they all have a common denominator somewhere. The other interesting thing to note is that whatever was to be discovered has already been done so. All we can do today is try to create something new out of our old thought systems. Our ancestors had it all figured out. We just need to relearn those age-old wisdoms in whatever form we find palatable. There is no new "truth" out there, just the same old wine in new bottles.

Ok, that's one too many cliche out there. My writing's getting rusty. Maybe I need to relearn that too, now.

On writing, Sanjay began a new blog recently. His first attempt and I must say he's almost a pro!
Way better than my first attempt.

More soon....
